Reflection

This is a song I whipped together from a creepy old record I got from a thrift store. It’s a lady reading some Christian Science thing or other in a hypnotic zombie voice. I cut it up a bit, but it’s pretty much no less incomprehensible when you hear it intact.

Here’s me blithering about the song “Cargo”. If you haven’t heard the song, this isn’t going to make any sense to you.

Love Button - Cargo Rough Mix

And here it is. I think more people have asked me when there was going to be a recording of Cargo publicly available than any other Love Button song I ever wrote. This is definitely a rough, unfinished version, though; there are still a few mistakes and I’m not totally thrilled with the mix. Nevertheless, it’s decent enough to show to company.

I’ve included a commentary track as well, since I think the background information for this song is extremely interesting. The song is about the beliefs of several groups of indigenous people from New Guinea, and a person dying of a peculiar disease that’s only transmissable by cannibalism. As always, any factual inaccuracies fall under the heading of “artistic license”, and as such are immune from prosecution. Enjoy!

And here, for the first time in nearly a decade, is a new studio recording of a Love Button song. It’s only a rough mix, but the general outline is definitely there. It’s a bluegrass rendition of “They Think I’m Jesus”. I’ve also included a commentary track with some details about the song and about this recording in particular. Enjoy!

Surrender

Here's one of my old songs, from an album that never was and probably never will be released. That's largely due to anticipated difficulty getting sample permissions, I think the album itself is fine. This song is one that stemmed from me just screwing around with some samples I'd taken of Billy Graham, running them through a vocoder and stuff like that. All voices on here are Billy Graham in one form or another, sampled from some thrift store LPs I bought. The drums are Steven Drozd from the Flaming Lips, but from a solo track he did for an album called "Flyin' Traps". The remainder is me playing music and messing around with noises. Enjoy!
